About me

I’m an urban planner dedicated to the creation of inclusive, accessible, attractive places…

I’ve had a full life, so many fascinating journeys and amazing opportunities. Along the way I’ve picked up a Master of Urban and Regional Planning and a PhD focused on integrated transport planning outcomes, with skills in strategic planning and policy development.

My broad life and work experience has provided me with an understanding of how to work creatively and collaboratively across the community, with business and levels of government.

I typically work across the subjects of transport, access, parking, place making and local economic development. I’ve been employed in strategic planning roles such as ‘Coordinator Transport Futures’ and ‘City Building’ Manager for Stage 1 of the $1.3 billion Gold Coast Light Rail . I’ve overseen establishment of local access, community transport and place making projects.

Look out for my completed my book: Rethinking Parking: Planning and Urban Design Perspectives. It does a deep dive on the how and why of urban parking with a view to planning and designing for a better place experience.

Routledge will publish in late 2023 – see deets here: https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/10.4324/9781003356493/rethinking-parking-david-mepham
